As attendees enter the conference room, they are presented with a bit of "Best Grillz" bling, a shiny strip of "jewels" meant to be placed over one's teeth. Though it isn't a mouth guard by any stretch of the imagination, the faux teeth say "UFC" on them, referring to THQ's recently acquired Ultimate Fighting Championship property. |

While many modern fantasy tales draw inspiration from Tolkien's Lord of the Rings novel, those hallowed tales weren't the only classic works of fiction to emerge from the early 20th century. In the early 1930s, author and poet Robert E. Howard created Conan the Barbarian, a mighty warrior and cunning scoundrel who was later immortalized on the big screen by a certain California state governor, and whose likeness will grace the upcoming massively multiplayer game Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures. |

All good barbarians know that the more time spent sharpening weapons means the less time spent sacking villages and making off with booty. Funcom has apparently been putting this age-old adage to the test with its upcoming massively multiplayer online game, Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures. Initially slated for a 2006 release, Age of Conan has been delayed several times. The PC version of the game is set to be published this October by UK-based publisher Eidos, with an Xbox 360 version to follow at a later date. |

With extended Beta testing for months to come we can hone and polish based on large-scale feedback, allowing us to fulfill the potential of the game." |

It will be up to gamers, through a beta test, to help ensure that the upcoming PC version of the massively multiplayer online role-playing game Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures is worthy of the name. Publishers Eidos and Funcom today opened up registration to play the MMORPG months before it hits shelves, and GameSpot has 500 slots reserved for the most battle-ready. |

Age of Conan: Hyberion Adventures is on display at the Consumer Electronics Show, and while the version on display doesn't feature any new gameplay additions since we saw the game last month, it does feature one major new feature. For the first time, Age of Conan is running using DirectX 10, the new version of Microsoft's gaming technologies, and the results are prettier than the DirectX 9 version of the game. |
